My first time in Louisville was to shoot three days of celebrations with a wedding sandwiched in the middle. Christy, my good friend Laura's mom, was getting married at the Churchill Downs racecourse, where the annual Kentucky Derby is hosted.
The sun spared no energy that week as the heat index consistently peaked above 100 degrees. Nonetheless, with AC on our side and great company, I witnessed the massive Sloan and Thomas families come together for one big party.
Day 1 was the I Do BBQ, with a pool party, rain, delicious pulled pork, and plenty of ice cream to go around.
Day 2 was the wedding, the getting ready, the setting up, the rehearsals, the getting ready again, the ceremony, the reception, and, of course, the dance party at the end.
Day 3, we went out to Marengo Cave and then boarded the Belle of Louisville for a sunset voyage down the Ohio River.

Surprise! The next day, I was supposed to fly out of Louisville, but skipped my flight as I had caught some news that someone was going to get proposed to the next day. Now that was an opportunity I just simply couldn't pass on.
